The National Literacy Trust has published a brand new research report, Literacy and Life Expectancy, which found that children born into communities with the most serious literacy challenges have some of the lowest life expectancies in England. The research shows that a boy born in Stockton Town Centre, an area with some of the greatest literacy challenges in the country, has a life expectancy 26 years shorter than a boy born in North Oxford.
